Grandmaster Jeffrey J. Delaney
Mr. Delaney began his Martial Arts training with Dr. Larry Sanders in Nei Wai Chia Kung Fu, a Chinese system comprised of the internal arts of Hsing I, Pa qua and Tai Chi, as well as the external arts of Wing Chung and Mitsung. In July of 1988 he received his Master Instructor Certificate and fourth degree Black Belt in these arts.
In January of 1989 Mr. Delaney was introduced to Professor Remy Presas, founder of the Filipino art of Modern Arnis. Mr. Delaney soon became a private student of Professor Presas. Over the next decade Mr. Delaney dedicated his time to mastering and promoting the complex and brutal art of Modern Arnis. For the past several years Mr. Delaney has been in charge of rank testing and requirements in the Professor’s system and traveled extensively in the United States and Europe assisting Professor Presas with his three and four day Instructor Training Camps.
On October 28th 2000, Professor Remy Amador Presas was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in Hamburg, Germany. At that time the Professor named Mr. Delaney as his Successor and Grandmaster of the art of Modern Arnis.
Mr Delaney wrote the feature article about Modern Arnis and Professor Presas for the August 1998 issue of Black Belt Magazine. Mr. Delaney was also featured in the October, 2001 Issue of Black Belt Magazine.
Currently Mr. Delaney is one of the worlds top authorities on Tapi-Tapi, a form of stick and empty hand sparring and trapping developed by Professor Presas during his career of full contact stick fights in the Philippines. Tapi-Tapi has only been taught publicly since 1994. Mr. Delaney resides in Dripping Springs, Texas and stays busy traveling and teaching seminars and instructor training camps on Modern Arnis.
