Grandmaster Gordon Magallanes
Grandmaster Gordon Magallanes was born in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Professor Magallanes starting his martial arts training with Kajukenbo in 1963 on the Island of Oahu. In 1969, Professor Magallanes studied under Instructor Douglass Calevo of the CHA-3 Kenpo Karate Club.
In 1971, Grandmaster Magallanes had the opportunity to study under Grandmaster Sid Asuncion and Professor Sixto Ramos under the Ken Ka Bo system. Grandmaster Magallanes was awarded his Black belt in 1974. He also had the opportunity to study the Filipino martial art of Kali under the direction of Master Taki Pelago.
In 1984, Grandmaster Magallanes open up his school on the Waianae coast on the island of Oahu and took on the name, Makaha Kenpo with classes for children and adults. Professor Magallanes is one of the few instructors who have truly kept the traditions of the old training method (hard style).
Grandmaster Magallanes has joined the Society in 1999 and has been appointed to the Executive Board.
