Sensei Ross Briggs
Ross Briggs began his martial training at the age of nine, studying Judo and Jujitsu at the local YMCA. In 1970 Ross began Tae Kwon Do training under his older brother Tom Briggs, a Reno Police officer who had studied the art in Korea.
In 1971, Ross met and began training with Sensei (now Senior Grand Master) Alexander Archie, a collaboration that continues to this day.
In 1972, through Grand Master Archie, Ross met and began training as time and distance permitted under Soke, Dr. Stanford McNeal, who was at that timeliving in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sensei Briggs is a 3rd Dun in Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Byong Yu, and Sandan in Ju Jitsu. Sensei Briggs has also been certified Nidan under Grandmasters Steven Mohammed and the Reverend Donnie Williams, founders of the BKF system.
While in the U.S. Army during the latter 1970’s and early 1980’s, Sensei Briggs created and taught the Defensive Tactics Training Program to the 82nd Airborne Military Police Company, where rose to the rank of Sergeant. While continuing his own Martial Enlightenment, Sensei Briggs now teaches from his home dojo in Sparks, Nevada, and continues to assist Senior Grand Master Archie. He also assists Grand Master Joseph Walker with Karate and Women’s Self-Defense classes taught at Truckee Meadows Community College.
