Master Dave Degrouchie

Photo not Available     Kyoshi Dave Degrouchie was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada, and began his martial arts studies in 1983 at the age of 8.
His studies began in Kyokushin Karate, and eventually he enrolled in Jujitsu, and became a Jujitsu Sensei at the age of 17, opening his own school named "Kihon-do Martial arts club". During his time as a Jujitsu Sensei, Degrouchie found too many holes in his material, from a street defense perspective. He found the striking ability too weak, as well, he wanted a better understanding of Ki on a deeper level to apply to his teachings.
That being so, he took up the study of Tang Soo Do, and Tai Chi C'huan to complement his Jujitsu training. What he discoved, was that he could not be satisfied still, from a street effectiveness point of veiw.
He then took time off from teaching to further develop himself, and his knowledge, in order to find a more modern realistic way of doing things. This resulted in the formation of his art, Goju-Senjutsu, and it's even deeper level as of late, Bujutsu Okuden Ryu, which teaches individuals, that they need look no further than the roots of Budo, to find full combative effectiveness for today's situations.
It is during his studies into effectiveness, and the short commings in said respect with the way most martial arts are taught today, that he developed his 5 principles of technique development, and his mason jar effect theory, both subjects that he is happy to discuss at length with anyone who wishes to contact him to learn more.
But, the development of a way of self defense and martial study was not all that he embarked on in his effort to do things right, to the best of his perspective. He also had a problem with the way martial arts associations and organizations governed their membership, and sucked the life out of the true meaning of Budo.
He then went one step further to develop the World Budo Alliance, which today is 14 member countries strong. The organization is made up of big names, and small town instructors alike, that want to see the integrity of the arts protected and upheld.
At present, he holds the rank of Rokudan, certified by the International Grading Board of the World Budo Alliance, as well as the Latin America Grandmasters and Soke Council. To date, he has been nominated for induction into 8 International Martial arts halls of fame, has developed the Instructor trainee video/seminar program for Goju-Senjutsu, and has begun work on a 10 volume book series on self defense and today's modern weapons. He has been a member of, and has served in a directorship capacity with, various international organizations both past and present.

His current grades are:
- Rokudan, Bujutsu Okuden Ryu, issued by the - International Grading Board of the WBA.
- Godan, Seite-do Budo Karate, issued by Soke Edward James Badiang, cheif screener for the - World Head of Family Sokeship Council, and founder of the World Seite-Do Budo Karate Organization.
- Shodan, Kuma-Ryu Karate-Jutsu, issued by Kyoshi Robert Sterling, Founder.

Kyoshi Dave Degrouchie continues to work towards the spread of the World Budo Alliance, teaching his art to many around the world, and to writting his instructional books.
