Master Dan W. Jones
Master Dan W. Jones has been studying the martial arts for over thirty years. The practical application of what he has learned came from thirteen years as a police officer. In addition, Master Jones is a former hand-to-hand combat instructor and Practical Training Manager for the prestigious University of Illinois Police Training Institute. He also designed, developed and presented classroom instruction on Police Patrol Tactics as well as Police Communications. He has given presentations on his training methodology, self-defense theory and control techniques to several organizations across the United States, Canada and Russia.
Master Jones is a certified Master Law Enforcement Trainer, Police Control Tactics Instructor, Police Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Police Contact Weapons Instructor, G.R.A.S.P. Instructor, C.L.A.M.P. Instructor and Crime Scene Investigator.
In 1997, Master Jones was presented the “Executive of the Year” award from the Okinawan Karate Do Union. In 1999, he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame and in June of 2001 he was one of the youngest masters promoted to the rank of Ku-Dan, 9th Degree Black Belt. He has also received numerous law enforcement commendations.
In December of 2002, Master Jones’ book, Karate – The Isshinryu Way, My Philosophy on the Martial Arts and Life was released by National Paperback Books Publishing Company and has received high acclaim. He is a husband and father of two daughters. Currently, Master Jones is the Regional Director for the Northern United States District of the Okinawan Karate Do Union and serves on its board of directors. He continues to teach executive and private karate classes to select student.
