Master William Martin
Master William Martin experience in the martial arts began in 1984, with fencing at St. Gregory's College. In my first year fencing I led St. Gregory's fencing team to its first ever state championship in team epee'. Between the years of 1985-1992, he won five state championships in individual epee' and placed in the top three in every year he competed. Eventually he held three first place team trophies. In 1992, he Iearned the right to compete at the U.S. Nationals in Division II epee' where he was placed 52 in a field of 137 fencers.
In 1992, he continued his voyage in the martial arts by beginning a study of Kajukenbo under Sensei Chet Chesher. In 1994, I received my brown belt in Kajukenbo under Sensei Chesher. For several months I taught and ran the school of Kajukenbo in Oklahoma City.
In 1994, he met Soke Ron Bradbury and he accepted me as a brown belt in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu. By November 10th , 1994, he had earned a Shodan (1st Degree Black) in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu. On November 9th, 1995, he earned Nidan (2nd Degree Black) in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu. On September 3rd , 1996, he received my Sandan (3rd Degree Black) and a award for Outstanding Martial Artist presented by the American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu Karate Association. In March of 1997 he was inducted into the American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu Karate Association International Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year 1996. he has received a Shodan (1st Degree Black) in the Kaju Kempo system of Karate in 1998. In the summer of 1997, he was awarded Instructor of the Year 1997 by the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame. On November 10th 1998, he was promoted to Yondan (4th Degree Black) in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu. In 2000 he was awarded Instructor of the Year by The Universal Society of Martial Arts. On June 1, 2001 he achieved master ranking (5th Degree Black) in American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu.
Master Martin has been a certified instructor of American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu since December of 1994. In his continuation of his martial arts education he has attended workshops on Ground Fighting, Aiki-Jutsu and Western Boxing. These workshops were all sanctioned by the American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu Karate Association. He has assisted in the presentation of workshops of intermediate and advanced combat techniques of American Kenpo Bu-Jutsu conducted in Wisconsin, Missouri and Oklahoma which were presented by Grandmaster Bradbury. He has a passion for teaching people how to defend themselves which has been rewarded by the survival of several students returning from potentially deadly situations with barely a scratch.
