Master Jason Ward
Jason Ward began his martial arts training over 20 years ago in Toronto, Ontario, where he studied the Matsubayashi and Kobayashi schools of Shorin-Ryu Karate. He would later move to Barrie Ontario studying Goju-Ryu Karate. This would see him studying from Meibukan, Jundokan, and Kodokan schools.
After earning Black Belt ranks in Shorin Ryu and Goju Ryu, Jason Ward began his study of Kenpo under Glenn Kwan Sensei. He would go on to help formulate and organize the Genkido Kempo system, which he named, and would later be the Soke-Dai (Inheritor).
Jason Ward holds Yudansha ranks in various systems of Kenpo, Jiu-jitsu and Karate. And has had the pleasure of working with such individuals as Takayoshi Nagamine Sensei, Kimo Wall Sensei, Bruce Juchnik Hanshi and more.
In 2000 Jason Ward was inducted into the World Head of Family Sokeship Hall of Fame as Man of the Year. In 2001 he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as Man of the Year, and in 2002. He was promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt and title of Master by various Kenpo, Jiu-Jitsu and Kajukenbo masters and grandmasters from the Hawaii Martial Arts Society International. He was also inducted into the Hawaii Martial Arts Society Hall of Fame as Master of the Year.
Jason Ward continued to seek out the highest levels of martial arts education. He then petitioned to be a student of Professor Mark Bober, the head of the T'ien Lung Tao® Kung Fu system. Jason Ward was accepted and underwent the Bai Shi ceremony, becoming a Ru-men Di-zi or In the Door Disciple.
After years of dedicated training Jason Ward was promoted to ShiFu and was given the name of Shen Yu Xie (Spirit of the Jade Scorpion).
Today he continues to study under Professor Bober as a Ru-Zi Di-Zi (Inner Chamber Disciple), and holds the title of ShiGong (Master) in T'ien Lung Tao®.
ShiGong Ward teaches at the Heavenly Dragon Kung Fu School of Barrie, and is Vice-President of the World T'ien Lung Tao Association.
