Professor Imi Okazaki-Mullins

Professor Imi Okazaki-Mullins     Professor Imi Okazaki-Mullins was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is the youngest daughter of Grandmaster Henry Okazaki. Professor Imi began her training at home with her two sisters under the direction of their father, teaching them techniques, as well as massage thought many hours of practice with him as the patient. Grandmaster Henry Okazaki also entered Professor Imi and her two sisters in a women's jujitsu class under Iwalani Tanaka and Jackie Wong. In the early sixties, Keiko Fukuda who was the highest-ranking female judoka in the Kodokan at that time trained Professor Imi and her sisters.
     Professor Imi Okazaki-Mullins continued teaching both Kodekan and Kodokan techniques until 1970 due to health reasons. It was not until 1993 when Professor Imi came out of retirement doe to Professor Clyde Zimmerman's words of encouragement and support. Professor Imi Okazaki-Mullins is currently active and teaching at seminars throughout the United State. In 1994, she was promoted to Professor by Shoshin Ryu, and now holds the rank of Rokudan. Professor Imi is one of the Hawaii Martial Arts Society Senior Advisors.
