Professor Brain Cheng
Professor Brain Cheng first arrived in Hawaii from Vietnam in 1984. He assisted his father, Grandmaster David Cheng in spreading the art of Tai Chi Praying Mantis in Hawaii for over 15 years.
Professor Cheng began his Chinese martial arts training in South Vietnam at a very early age as was the tradition in the oriental culture. He was learning Wing Tsun first from his father and later under Master Luhk Kihm.
He later learned Jow Family martial arts from Master Syu Yauh. This style incorporated the hands of the Hung Family, the footwork of the Choy Family and the legs of the Northern Shaolin style.
Brain's father later taught him the arts of Tai Chi Praying Manthis, Norhtern Shaolin and the Lost Track System. Brian continued learning these above-mentioned arts under Master Tran To Nu, Master Dieu Huy Chiang, Master Dieu Banh Wong, Master Thu Ngo, Master Quang The Tran, Master Minh Tran, and Master Lu Chong.
Professor Cheng also learned another fierce southern gung-fu system called, "Bahk Mei", which means the White Eye-Brow Gung Fu, under Master Kiet Chi Au and Master Ly Vi Sing.
In 1999, Master Brain Cheng took over as the Head Master and successor to the Chuk Kai Tai Chi Praying Mantis Hawaii Organization. He also was inducted in the Hawaii Martial Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Recipient of the Chinese Athletic Arts Academy, Legend Award.
