Professor Marcus Doyle

Professor Marcus Doyle     Professor Marcus Doyle began his martial arts training at the age of 6, inspired by watching various martial art movies from Hollywood. After checking out several local schools, he and his brother began their training in Shaolin Kempo Karate. Hooked from the beginning, he began teaching the arts at the age of 14 as an assistant instructor and received his promotion to Black Belt at the age of 16. His family moved several times throughout his teenage years, and while he maintained training in Shaolin Kempo Karate, he also expanded, receiving ranks and training in multiple arts including Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Shaolin Kung-Fu, Jiu-Jitsu and Tai Chi.
In 1996, Professor Marcus Doyle moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was first introduced to American Kenpo. While in college, he worked with several martial artists and developed theories for his practical self-defense seminars. After a brief stay in California, he returned to Kentucky to get married and has continued to live, work, train and teach martial arts.
Professor Marcus Doyle has approached teaching the arts from an academic understanding of the human body, mechanics of motion, and understanding development of historical techniques. His main goal is not to just communicate the motions of the arts to students, but to ensure they understand the principles behind them. In addition to martial arts, Marcus has been officiating amateur ice hockey for 13 seasons and also works as an amateur photographer.
