Professor Myles Durkin

Professor Myles Durkin     Professor Myles Durkin is a Graduated of Boston University and Bridgewater State College. He is also the Head of Health & PE Dept. for North Jr. High School. He was a wrestling coach from 1970-1980 at Norwood Wrestling team, Mass Interscholastic Wrestling Official Assoc. certified Wrestling Official.
     Prof. Durkin started his martial arts training at United Studios of Self defense under Bill Anderson and James Bryant. He was awarded his ShoDan rank by Fred Villari Studios of Self defense & Grandmaster Villari. In 1983, he opened a Fred Villari Studio in Bridgewater, MA.
     In 1990, he left Fred Villari Studios and went to Masters Self Defense and was awarded the title Sensei from Masters Self defense & Nick Cerio International Martial Arts Association. He was also a certified Head Judge for tournament referee work by PKL; Profressional Karate League and Master Glenn Hart. He was a Tournament Arbitrator for Masters Self defense Tournament North Shore. He is also a certified Instructor by the National Rifle Association for pistol and rifle instruction and certification.
     In 1993, he left Masters Self Defense and opened his own school, American Martial Arts Association. He then went under the Grandmaster Al Cunningham, head of NEKICK organization. He also started the American Martial Arts referees Association, to certify black belts as Head Judges. In 1994, he was elected as Chairperson of NEKICK's Board of Directors.
     In 1998, he wrote a Guide for organizing martial arts tournaments for the NEKICK organization. In 2000, he was awarded his 8th Dan rank by Grandmaster Al Cunningham and NEKICK Org. He was also awarded the rank of ShoDan in Jujitsu by O'Sensei Phil Porter, 10th Dan, USMA & Grandmaster Al Cunningham & NEKICK organization.
     In 2001, he was nominated into the Inited States Martial Arts Hall of Fame by Phil Porter and in 2002, he was nominated by Grandmaster Al Cunningham into the Hawaii Martial Arts International Hall of Fame as "Master of the Year."
