Professor Patrick Himalaya
Himalaya School of Kenpo Karate
Chief Instructor Patrick Himalaya started his Martial Art training in 1966. He studied the style of Praymantis and White Crane moves, under Sifu Lucky Look, in the Art of Kung Fu.
In 1969 he then studied Kaujkenbo under the director's of Brother Abe, Kehau Alapai, Henry Kahue, and Professor Tony Sotero where he earned his Black Belt in 1974.
As a Chief Instructor, he later met up with Professor Joseph Kutzen in the 1980's and Professor Jamie Abregana Jr. in the 1990's who had their own school of Martial Arts. Professor Joseph Kutzen was known as the Kutzen School of Self Defense and Professor Jamie's school was known as the Abregana Self Defense Institute. Chief Instructor Patrick became Professor Joseph Kutzen 1st Assistant.
In 2000, Chief Instructor Patrick opens the Himalaya School of Kenpo Karate in Nanakuli, Hawaii with over 20 students. In November 2001, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2002 to September 2003, Chief Instructor Patrick assisted in Referee in numerous of Tournaments and have taught in several seminars. In early 2003, Chief Instructor Patrick has open his own private school teaching several students. One of his students, Shawn Youmans who trained under the style of Karate, Tae Kwon-Do (1972-1976), Mudo Quan (1977-1978), Judo (1978-1980), Tychi (1980-1982), Shotokan (1982-1985) has become his Assistant and 1st Degree Black Belt.
Now currently 2005, Himalaya School of Kenpo Karate has grown and now they are located in Silver Springs Recreation Center in Henderson, Nevada. Patrick is still active in the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society and is one of the first originals to serve on the board of directors since 1997. |
