Professor James M. Keane

Professor Keane is the Director of Intelligence Training at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Training Academy, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Department of Homeland Security.
During his tenure at the Academy Professor Keane was responsible for the entire legacy U.S. Customs Defensive Tactics Training Program at the Customs Academy. Professor Keane acted as the lead tactics instructor and developed and delivered the defensive tactics/tactics program for U.S. Customs.
As lead instructor Professor Keane instructed Special Agents and Law Enforcement Officers in the areas of, handcuffing, expandable baton, OC spray, simmunitions, weapons retention, escorting (suspects to interview or holding areas), use of force policies, officer mindset, defensive tactics, force on force and building entry techniques.
Keane was also assigned as lead antiterrorist instructor, which detailed techniques on terrorist training tactics, financial, strategic, fraud and smuggling investigations and intelligence collection, weapons of mass destruction and counter terrorist operations and planning.
In the Law Enforcement field Professor Keane is certified as a Defensive Tactics and Tactical Instructor for the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Professor Keane served in the U.S Army from 1969-1978 and did a tour of duty with the 75th Ranger in Vietnam. Professor Keane became a Police Officer for the City of Southside Place in Houston, Texas and a Police Officer for the City of Gulfport, Mississippi and was a member of the SWAT Team (Tactical Unit).
Subsequently Professor Keane joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and was deployed as a 1st Sergeant with the 10th Marines to Kuwait during the Gulf War. Professor Keane retired from the Marine Corps in 1997 as a Sergeant Major.
Professor Keane's martial arts history dates back to circa 1973 and holds a Black belt 1st degree in Kajukenfu Budo Kai Kan Kenpo, and an 8th degree in Budo Kai Kenpo.
Professor Keane teaches martial arts after his normal work hours as a Ministry of St. Williams Roman Catholic Church on St. Simons Island in Georgia. Professor Keane does not charge his students for the training and works solely on donations, which helps pay for training equipment and uniforms for those who are less fortunate.
Professor Keane believes, through proper martial arts training the young as well as the old can find release from everyday anxieties, peer pressure and a safe place to go for friendship and belonging.
