Professor James M. Keane

- Served in Vietnam as a Army Ranger in a Ranger Company 1969 - 1971
- Started Martial Arts Training in Wing Chun Kung Fu- 1971 at Ft Hood, TX under the tutelage of Sifu Louis Rivera.
- While stationed with the U.S. Army in Hawaii studied Tae Kwon Do (attained a brown belt) and moved on to Kaju Kenfu Budo Kai Kan Kenpo (attained a black belt from Master Harold Laranang), Jujitsu and Judo (colored belts in both).
- Instructed Hand to Hand Combat Techniques at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Reconnaissance Commando School, Hawaii
- Continued Studies in variants of Kosho Ryu Kenpo.
- Served as a Police Officer in Houston, TX
- Assisted in instructing Defensive Tactics while a student at the Mississippi Police Academy.
- Served as a Police Officer in Gulfport, MS as a member of the Tactical Unit (SWAT).
- Joined the Marine Corps Reserve and instructed Marines on Close Quarter Battle. Participated in Desert Storm as a Marine 1 st Sergeant for an Artillery Battery. Retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in 1997 as a Sergeant Major.
- Joined U.S. Customs in 1983 and worked in a variety of Law Enforcement disciplines.
- Presently work for the Department of Homeland Security as an Interim Director in Training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, U.S. Immigration and Customs (ICE) Academy in Georgia.
- Sensei Keane designed, implemented and instructs Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics and Entry Techniques. Until recently Sensei Keane was the Chief Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Academy and now on his own time trains (ICE) instructors for Defensive Tactics and Close Quarter Battle certification.
- Sensei Keane also attended the U.S. Customs Defensive Tactics System Instructor School.
- Sensei Keane is also working on designing a Close Quarter Battle system for a new defensive Law Enforcement weapon called the K-Boton Defender (expandable baton).
In 1999 Sensei Keane started a Kenpo school at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brunswick, Georgia. For the past 5 years Sensei Keane has volunteered his time to teach ages 4 - 70 (or older) Martial Arts and Self Defense. Since Sensei Keane started his volunteer work, he has certified two Black belts and assistant instructor's who also volunteer their time to teach the community the benefits of Martial Arts and Self- Defense. The Kenpo club at St. Francis works solely on donations which, pays for worn equipment, mats and uniforms for those who can't afford them.
