Professor Jason Ward

Professor Jason Ward

Jason Ward began his martial arts training in Toronto, Ontario, where he studied the Matsubayashi and Kobayashi schools of Shorin-Ryu Karate. He would later move to Barrie Ontario studying Goju-Ryu Karate. This would see him studying from Meibukan, Jundokan, and Kodokan schools. He would also begin studying Kali and Arnis as well.

After earning Black Belt ranks in Shorin Ryu and Goju Ryu, Jason Ward began his study of Kenpo under the late Grandmaster Glenn Kwan. He would go on to help formulate and organize the Genkido Kempo system, which he named, and would later be the Soke-Dai (Inheritor).

Jason Ward holds Yudansha ranks in various systems of Kenpo, Jiu-jitsu and Karate. And has had the pleasure of working with such individuals as Takayoshi Nagamine Sensei, Kimo Wall Sensei, Master Scott Felson, Master Ron Wilkerson, Master Mike Snyder, Bruce Juchnik Hanshi and more.

In 2000 Jason Ward was inducted into the World Head of Family Sokeship Hall of Fame as Man of the Year. In 2001 he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as Man of the Year.

In 2002. He was promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt and title of Master by various Masters and Grandmasters from the Hawaii Martial Arts Society International. He was also inducted into the Hawaii Martial Arts Society Hall of Fame as Master of the Year.

Grandmaster Kwan would always request Jason to research the histories, traditions, and philosophies of the martial arts, and seek out the highest levels of martial arts education.

This request would have him begin studying more of the Chinese systems to help him understand his Kempo. Jason went on to seek indepth study of Chi Ling Pai Gungfu, Tianlong Dao Gungfu, Baguazhang, Xingyiquan and Taijiquan.

After years of dedicated training Jason Ward was given the Bai Shr ceremony, receiving both the Rumen Dizi and Ruzi Dizi status and promoted to Master in Tianlong Dao.

In 2004/2005 he began studying Yang Family Taiji and Qigong under Sifu Ed Boates.

In 2005, with the permission of both his Kempo and Gungfu teachers, Jason Ward formulated the Bai Lin Dao system, blending his experiences in the Chinese Martial Arts, and Kempo.

In 2007, Grandmaster Glenn Kwan passed away, leaving behind three inheritors to his system. Jason Ward is currently working hard to preserve the system he inherited and move it forward into the future.

In 2008, he was recognized by the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as Master Instructor of the Year. He would also received a memorial plaque for his instructor Glenn Kwan. In 2009 he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as Most Distinguished Board Member of the Year.

Jason Ward currently teaches Bai Lin Dao Gung Fu, Genkido Kempo, Taijiquan and Qigong at his White Forest Martial Arts School in Barrie, Ontario. He is also the President of the International Chinese Martial Arts Research Society, and the International Genkidokai Association.
