Rhett Mason Boatman

Rhett Mason Boatman     Rhett began his martial art career in April of 1995, two months before his 4th birthday. During 1997 & 1998, Rhett had great training opportunities and would often train for 4 to 5 hours per day, five days per week. Rhett received his first black belt in sport karate on April 22, 2000 from World Champion Kyokushin-kai Master Johnnie Murphy. Rhett earned his second shodan in traditional karate on October 15, 2000 under Goshin Grand Master Matthew Durant. Rhett realized his true passion for the Chinese arts when he began training with Shaolin Temple Monks Shi De Shan & Shi Xing Hao. Rhett currently trains under Madame Wang Ju Rong at the Taiji Kung Fu Health Academy in Houston, Texas. Rhett is presently studying International Competition Wushu, and Chen Taiji. Rhett is a multiple national forms champion, a Texas state weapons champion, and has been featured in several martial art publications.

- Competition Circuits: AOK, TKO, TNT, SKIL, NBL
- Training Schedule: At least 2 hours per day 4 days per week.
- Favorite Martial Art Memory: Competing in a run-off in the Advanced Soft Traditional Forms Division, ages 17 and under, against 7 time NBL World Champion Chris Sublett, one month before my 9th birthday. I sure was proud of that 2nd place.
- Hobbies / Other Interests: Football, Soccer, Fly Fishing, Surfing, and ATV Racing
Motto: Train Hard, Stay in School, Be all you can be, and give the glory to God.
- Future Goals: To continue my martial art and acting career. To play college level sports. To eventually become a medical doctor or research scientist.
- Advice to other young martial artist: Stay Focused, Train for the Right Reasons, and Practice, PRACtice, PRACTICE!

- Fourth Coach: Master Yun-Yang Wang - Northern Shaolin / Northern Praying Mantis
- Fifth Coach: Bill McMahan - Hung Gar
- Sixth Coach: Goshin Grand Master Matthew Durant - Arashi-Te Karate Do
- Seventh Coach: Shaolin Monk Shi De Shan - Shaolin Kung Fu
- Eighth Coach: Shaolin Monk Shi Xing Hao - Shaolin Kung Fu / Competition Wushu
- Current Coach: Madame Wang Ju Rong - Competition Wushu / Chen Taiji

Tournaments and Awards: Rhett has been competing since the age of 5. In the past 7 years Rhett has received over 180 awards with 74 First Place / Champion awards in the advanced / black belt divisions, multiple Grand Champion awards and State and National Champion Titles.
