ABOUT THE HALL OF FAME

The Purpose of the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society Hall of Fame is to record for all time, with biographies, pictures, videos and in cyberspace the outstanding accomplishments of martial artists worldwide. The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society Hall of Fame is best described as an educational repository created to enshrine all martial artists and pioneers worldwide in martial arts history, such a repository of past, present, and future martial artists encourages our youth and next generations emulate these outstanding martial arts practitioners for their devotion, dedication, excellence, loyalty, leadership, knowledge, integrity, and steadfast character.

What makes this hall of fame special and different from most other hall of fames is that inductee's don't pay any induction fee's to qualify and to recieve their awards.

(Click Here) to take it to the "About the award page" The hall of fame committee have agree'd that individual's who have earned that right of recognition shouldn't have to pay a fee for a recognition they have earned. This doesn't mean that all individual's who gets nominated will get inducted into the hall of fame. Those who get nominated will have to first meet the requirements of the hall of fame rules and regualtions. This will assure only the most qualified individuals will be honored.

The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society Hall of Fame Awards, will be presented annually by the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society. Despite the honor the awards carry, many in this industry consider this as the Hawaii's Martial Arts version of the Grammy's. Awards is awarded by the panel to honor excellence in the martial arts and film. It is truly a peer honor, awarded by and to martial artists, martial arts celebrities, professionals and amateurs in several of categories. The annual Awards presentation brings together thousands of martial artists and celebrities in the Martial Arts Community and Film Industry from all over the world. HMAIS International Hall of Fame was founded to preserve and perpetuate and to advance the arts and sciences of the martial arts community and film industry not only in Hawaii but Internationally!

The HMAIS International Hall of Fame Awards will be covering over 35 categories, the awards honor, individuals, actors, models, athletics, musicians, organizations, schools and more. All related to the martial arts. The awards are presented to individuals, organizations and schools for their achievement. "It all adds up to one exciting event: the HMAIS Hall of Fame industry's biggest showcase."

In addition to the Awards, other honors are given every year by the HMAIS. These awards recognize contributions and activities of significance in all fields that fall outside the framework of the HMAIS Hall of Fame Awards categories.

The HMAIS Awards Presentation is also the HMAIS's most important activity and has enabled the organization to maintain a varied year-around calendar of programs and events and a wide-ranging educational and cultural agenda.

As the cultural and preservation arm of the HMAIS, the Association is supported by its members and sponsors.

The HMAIS, is a unique, multicultural membership-based association composed of members in the martial arts community worldwide entertainment industry such as film, actors, producers, directors, musicians, athletics, students and professionals, models, engineers and other creative and technical professionalsm who are dedicated to preserving, perpetuating and improving the quality of life and the cultural condition for the Martial Arts Community and its makers both inside and outside Hawaii. Established in 1995, The HMAIS is the first local and international venture launched by its founders and members in the martial arts community not only in Hawaii but Internationally!

Headquartered in Oahu, Hawaii, The HMAIS members include martial artists, actors, models, athletics, technical, musicians, professionals, amateurs, students and anyone related to the martial arts and entertainment industry from communities from the Hawaiian Islands to International. The HMAIS operates as a virtual meeting place for its membership and the organization is dedicated year-round to strengthening this cultural community via networking opportunities and educational outreach.

In Feburary-2006, The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society will be appointing its first independent Board and Panel, a group of highly motivated and well-regarded professionals from the Martial Arts and Entertainment Industry who are shepherding the organization through its beginning stages of growth. This new Board will continue to the betterment of the organization's efforts in continuing its events. The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society Awards aim to recognize artistic and technical achievement, not sales figures or chart positions, with the winners determined by the votes of their peers - the qualified voting members of The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society judge by a very selected panel with various of background.

A main purpose of the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society Awards is to recognize excellence and create a greater public awareness of the cultural diversity of the Martial Arts Industry, both domestically and internationally. The HMAIS Awards nominees and winners are nominated by their peers (membership), with two subtle but important differences: after their peers have nominated the said in such category, a ballot mail out is sent to members and the panel judges to select a minimum in each category. The final step is posting of the final nominees for each category with the winners being announced during the HMAIS Annual Hall of Fame Awards Banquet.

The HMAIS Awards, which is the first to combine everyone in the martial arts and entertainment industry, will be the most high-profile celebration of Hawaii Martial Arts International Society ever. The HMAIS Awards will also have an impact to more than thousands locally and internationally, focusing thousands of eyes and ears on the HMAIS Awards.

The active and selfless participation of the numerous HMAIS members in Hawaii and Internationally ensures that our programs and activities are current and relevant to the industry, while it also guarantees the integrity of the awards process as a peer honor that celebrates the achievements of all styles and genres of both the martial arts and entertainment industry. The HMAIS Awards and its members have accomplished much during the organization's short life, but this is a work in progress. Through the efforts of its staff and volunteer leadership this organization will continue to grow by strengthening its position as the premiere HMAIS Awards and by becoming the industry's most important resource for those interested in showing their support for The HMAIS Martial Arts and Entertainment Industry.

This is already happening as journalists, corporate sponsors, private organizations and members all reach out to the organization for direction, support, and leadership.
